"THE GALLOWAY IN AMERICA"
a Chronological History of Galloway Cattle.

This is the first and only book ever published which explores the origin of Galloway cattle in Scotland and traces their history and heritage in North America following the first importation in 1853.

--authored by Patricia Anderson Pruitt. This book is entirely devoted to Galloway Cattle from the earliest recordings of the breed in their homeland of Scotland and continuing to present day. Pruitt began to breed Galloways for a 4-H Club project more than 50 years ago and became very active in showing, selling and promoting them for many years. She was also very active at an early age with the American Galloway Breeders' Association and during the ensuing years began to "collect" Galloway materials. Today she maintains a vast collection of Galloway memorabilia. Her research for the book was significantly aided by having these materials, but she also spent more than two years researching at University Libraries and interviewing current and past breeders. The book is sanctioned by the American Galloway Breeders' Association and has received Worldwide recognition.

"The Galloway in America" is a hardback edition with dust jacket and contains more than 380 illustrations in color and black & white, within 175 pages. It provides answers to many questions concerning Galloway cattle and it highlights breeders of influence, important cattle shows and champion animals of days gone by. This is all placed in context of the agricultural and economic ups and downs of the time. It also helps the reader to understand the challenges and even disasters that the Galloway and its breeders have overcome and gives us insite into the direction the breed is headed today. Readers may even be surprised to find the name of their father, grandfather or great grandfather as someone who bred Galloway cattle in earlier times.

In addition, this book supplies answers to many questions about todays Galloway cattle and why there is a renewed interest in the breed as supreme grazers, producing a quality beef product from grass.
